Radiesse

Radiesse is a wrinkle filler that instantly adds facial volume to smooth out the signs of aging. This product keeps working with your body to stimulate the production of collagen, which can provide long-lasting results for many patients.

As a volumizing filler, Radiesse is a wonderful option for a broad range of patients. Whether wrinkles are moderate or severe, it can provide immediate full correction that lasts for up to a year, and sometimes even longer. Radiesse is especially effective for nasolabial folds, or smile lines; marionette lines; corners of the mouth; pre-jowl sagging; and chin wrinkles. In 2015, Radiesse has been FDA approved for the treatment of volume correction in the hands.

Radiesse now contains lidocaine to make your procedure more comfortable!

Eileen’s Experience Counts: butterfly

Radiesse is considered a collagen stimulating filler used to increase the volume in the face and the hands. Eileen recommends Radiesse for patients who look in the mirror and feel their face appears sunken in, deflated, tired and/or saggy. Radiesse has been clinically proven to last a year or more, so it is a great option for patients who want that lasting result. Eileen recommends that new patients make a complimentary consultation appointment to discuss the different treatment options and results that can be achieved with each dermal filler.

Pre- and Post-Treatment Instructions

Pre-Treatment Instructions

7 Days Before Your Treatment (to prevent bruising): AVOID blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve. Also avoid herbal supplements such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Turmeric, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s Wart, and Omega-3 Fish Oil.

3 Days Before Your Treatment: AVOID topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or any “Anti-aging” products. Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.

24 Hours Before Your Treatment: AVOID alcoholic beverages and exercise (to limit risk of bruising).

You must be off any antibiotics for 3 days prior to your appointment. If this is not possible, you need to reschedule your appointment.

Do not use Dermal Fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are allergic to any of its ingredients, or suffer from any neurological disorders.

Day of Treatment

Notify your provider with any changes to your health history or medications (antibiotics, vitamins, supplement, etc) since your last appointment. This includes new autoimmune conditions, cancer treatments, recent vaccinations, and/or dental procedures.

If you have previously suffered from cold sores, please inform your injector prior to or during your treatment. There is a chance the needle punctures could contribute to a recurrence. Prescription medication is available that may minimize recurrence of cold sores.

Please do not wear makeup on the day of treatment on the area being treated.

To maximize your comfort during the procedure a topical anesthetic may be applied (especially when treating the lips), please arrive 30 minutes earlier than your appointment and inform the front desk staff.

During Your Treatment

Dermal Fillers are Hyaluronic Acid products that are injected into the skin to soften creases or folds, support areas of volume loss, or contour specific facial areas. Local numbing medications and ice may be used to maximize your comfort during the procedure. Most patients will have some mild discomfort typically associated with needle injections.

Tips for Decreasing Bruising

Consume fresh pineapple (contains the enzyme bromelain). Bromelain is a naturally occurring anti-inflammatory that can decrease swelling, tenderness, pain, and bruising.

Start OTC Vitamin C 1, 000 mg supplements 2x/day (AM and PM) 1 week before your appointment. This will help strengthen the walls of your blood vessels.

Consider starting OTC supplement Arnica the week of your appointment as it has been shown to decrease inflammation and bruising after treatment.

After Your Treatment

You may experience a mild to moderate amount of stinging or soreness post injection. You may also have some redness, swelling, or bruising. This will normally last less than 7 days.

Some filler may feel firm and bumpy to the touch; it will begin to soften and feel better over the next few weeks.

Ice should be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling/bruising. Small bruises sometimes occur and should resolve in 5-10 days. You can also purchase Alastin’s InHance at Aesthetics By Eileen that can shorten the time of bruising.

You may purchase Jane Iredale Corrective Colors palette to help camouflage all stages of bruising. Oxygenetix is available for purchase at Aesthetics By Eileen and can be used immediately post treatment to conceal signs of treatment.

Please Avoid After Treatment

Do not rub or massage the treated area for 48 hours after your treatment.

Do not apply makeup or lipstick to the area treated until tomorrow. This will reduce your risk of infection or any other adverse reaction.

Do not do strenuous exercise for 48 hours post treatment. This will minimize the risk of raising your blood pressure and therefore, reduce the risk of temporary bruising and infection.

Avoid facials or saunas for 48 hours after your treatment.

Avoid alcohol for the next 48 hours to reduce risk of bruising.

Do not plan any other facial treatments (Laser, Hydrafacial, Microneedling, etc) for the next 2 weeks.

Treatment Results/Expectations & Follow-Up

If you require more product to touch up/adjust your treatment results, it can be done after the full 14 days (after inflammation has resolved).
